London Stansted Airport (STN)

London's  Airport in the country with fast access into the centre of London

London's Stansted Airport is a large international airport to the North East of London in Essex. We offer some guidance as how to get to, and through Stansted Airport. Security is tight and you should ensure that you obey all airline and customs rules as to what can be carried on the aircraft.

At peak times the queues for Security Checks at LONDON STANSTED AIRPORT can be v-e-r-y  l-o-n-g.  Airline "latest check-in times" can, at times, be too short to get you to the Gate on time. Allow extra time.

London Stansted Airport has 2 terminals. They are known as International and Domestic.

Travel  - London Stansted Airport

London Underground - Tube (subway system or metro)

London's Stansted Airport is not on the tube network.

Take the Stansted Express train to London Liverpool Street. Liverpool Street is on the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan Lines.

Take the Stansted Express train to Tottenham Hale for the Tube (London Underground) Victoria Line link to the West End and other British Rail London terminal, including King's Cross, Euston, Victoria and Paddington (change at King's Cross).

London is divided into six zones with Zone 1 in Central London and Zone 6 in the outer suburbs.

London Liverpool Street is in Zone 1.   Stansted Airport is outside the Zone system.

If travelling after 09:30 (weekends) or all day at weekends we would recommend the Travel Card. This gives the freedom of London on tube, bus and train.

Bus  - London Stansted Airport

A variety of bus services run from London Stansted Airport.

Rail  - London Stansted Airport

Stansted Express rail link with London's Liverpool Street Station operates every 30 minutes for most of the day to Stansted Airport.

The fastest journey time between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street is 41 minutes.

Most trains from London Stansted Airport stop at Tottenham Hale for the Tube (London Underground) Victoria Line link to the West End and other British Rail London terminal, including King's Cross, Euston, Victoria and Paddington (change at King's Cross).

The scheduled journey time between London Stansted Airport and Tottenham Hale is 30 minutes.

Road  - London Stansted Airport

London's Stansted Airport has excellent motorway (highway, freeway, autobahn) connections to both the M11 (junction 8) for Central London and Cambridge and the M25 (London's Orbital Motorway).

Car Parking  - London Stansted Airport

There are several car parks. Car Parks are available close to the Terminal Buildings. Medium & Long Term Car Parks are away from the main terminal but easily accessible on the courtesy busses.

Park in the Car Park designated for the terminal and write down the zone and car park details of where you leave your car. There are many car parks and they can look identical.
